Shocking Revelation: Cong-NC Alliance Seeks to Erase SC/ST Reservations in J&K, Warns Om Prakash Rajbhar
Lucknow, Aug 25: Om Prakash Rajbhar, Chief of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), criticized the Congress on Sunday for allegedly partnering with the National Conference (NC) to abolish reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Gujjars, Paharis, and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Rajbhar, the collaboration aims to weaken these marginalized communities.
Rajbhar claimed that through this alliance, Congress is endorsing the NC’s pro-Pakistan and pro-separatist manifesto, which seeks to annul the reservation rights granted to these groups following the abrogation of Article 370 under Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution. He remarked that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were denied reservations for over 60 years due to Congress’s policies, which he labeled as anti-reservation. Consequently, Dalit and other deprived communities in the region were deprived of these benefits for decades, Rajbhar asserted.
The SBSP Chief also accused Congress of harboring plans to reimplement Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which he believes would further deny SCs and STs their rightful quotas. He cited examples from Congress-ruled states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal, where he claimed reservations for these communities have been reduced. Furthermore, he mentioned that Congress had not permitted reservations for SCs and STs in institutions such as Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University.
Rajbhar emphasized that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would prevent any attempts by Congress and NC to undermine the rights of these communities in employment, education, and politics. He assured that the BJP would safeguard their reservation rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Monday, National Conference, the oldest regional party in Jammu and Kashmir, released its manifesto, pledging to address numerous issues, including the restoration of autonomy, Article 370, and statehood for the union territory.
