Arunachal’s GST Collections Surge 35.7%: A Remarkable Growth Story
Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh has seen a remarkable 35.7 percent increase in goods and services tax (GST) collections from April to December 2025, in contrast to the same timeframe in 2024. This surge far exceeds the national average of 6.8 percent during the same period.
The Central GST (CGST) Commissionerate in Itanagar attributes this upward trend to the state’s robust economic performance, better compliance, and effective revenue-enhancing strategies. Officials have pointed out that the rise in GST revenue reflects a significant expansion in business activities, the growth of markets, and improved tax administration across various sectors, including retail, services, tourism, transport, and hospitality.
The state government has implemented policies aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business, instituting governance reforms, and advancing digital initiatives, all of which have successfully broadened the tax base and bolstered investor confidence. This growth in GST collections is reported to have strengthened the state’s financial standing, allowing for increased investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare.
In addition, the CGST Commissionerate has outlined plans to further digitize the taxation process, improve business engagement, enhance revenue tracking, and provide better training for both taxpayers and tax officials. These initiatives are designed to ensure compliance, sustain economic growth, and promote inclusive and long-term development in Arunachal Pradesh.
