Shock and Outrage: Knife-Wielding Man Attacks Three Women on Paris Metro, Suspect Arrested
A man armed with a knife stabbed three women on Paris Metro’s Line 3 this Friday between 4:15 PM and 4:45 PM. The violent incidents unfolded at the Arts-et-Métiers, République, and Opéra stations, as reported by Le Parisien, citing police sources. The line connects Bagnolet in Seine-Saint-Denis to Levallois-Perret in Hauts-de-Seine, making it a busy commuter route.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailant suddenly brandished a knife, inflicting minor injuries to the women’s backs and thighs. Paris firefighters were swiftly deployed to attend to the victims at each station. “The young woman was injured in the thigh,” recounted a witness who was present at the République station during the attack. “There was quite a lot of blood; it was a pretty deep cut.”
Following the stabbings, the suspect fled the scene, taking Metro Line 8. He was later apprehended at his residence in Sarcelles, Val-d’Oise. Officials confirmed that he is of Malian origin, born in 2000. While initial fears of terrorism arose, police have since ruled this out, stating that the assaults appear to stem from an individual who is mentally unstable.
By 6:00 PM, approximately two hours after the attacks, normalcy returned to both Opéra and République stations, with Line 3 resuming regular operations.
This series of attacks has sparked concern among commuters, prompting calls for increased security measures on public transport. As investigations continue, authorities remain focused on understanding the motive behind this unsettling incident.
