A public Adyashraddha ceremony in memory of the late music legend Zubeen Garg took place at Gandhi Maidam, Boko, on October 1, attracting a large crowd of admirers, artists, and community leaders. The event served as an emotional tribute to Garg, whose music and voice continue to resonate deeply with millions.
Organized by six prominent organizations, the ceremony saw renowned singer Bulumoni (Panchuna) Rava, a close associate of Garg, leading the tributes with floral offerings placed before the singer’s portrait. Rava became visibly emotional while performing the poignant song “Panchuna Dalai,” a performance that stirred memories of Garg’s enduring musical influence.
Prominent journalist Sushil Patowary, along with local dignitaries and senior citizens, also took part in honoring Garg, reflecting on his extraordinary contributions to Assamese culture, music, and the arts. The ceremony began with an all-faith prayer for the eternal peace of the departed soul, symbolizing the unity and reverence shared by all attendees.
The event was coordinated by the South-West Kamrup Students’ Union (AASU), Boko Regional Rabha Students’ Union (ARSU), BOGAI, Boko Rongali Bihu Sanmilan, Boko Sports Association, and the Boko Press Club. In attendance were notable figures, including Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Chief Sonaram Rava, who, along with executive members Sumit Rabha, Arjun Chetry, and Aditya Rabha, added further significance to the occasion.
