Police Seize Over 8 Kg of Fake Gold from Night Bus in Assam
Guwahati: In a significant operation, a police team in Gohpur, Assam intercepted a night service bus on Friday night, resulting in the seizure of over eight kilograms of fake golden boat-shaped objects. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the authorities detained ten passengers for interrogation.
The bus, identified as ‘Rishan,’ was stopped near the Howajan police outpost. A thorough inspection revealed that the fake gold items were concealed within six luggage bags. The driver and co-pilot claimed that six passengers who boarded from Laluk in Lakhimpur carried the suspicious bags. However, none of the passengers claimed ownership of the bags when questioned by police.
The detained individuals are currently being interrogated amidst suspicions of their involvement in smuggling activities. Meanwhile, both the driver and the co-pilot have denied any knowledge of the bags’ contents, asserting their innocence.
