Empowering Progress: CM Hails Jishnu Dev Varma’s Transformational Impact on Janajati Development in Tripura

Agartala, 10th August 2024: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha lauded former Deputy Chief Minister and newly appointed Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma for his significant role in the development of Tripura’s Janajati society and overall state progress.

In a civic reception ceremony organized by the State Government at Kharang Community Hall in Jirania Sub-Division of Mandwi, Dr. Saha emphasized that Varma’s appointment as Governor is a historic moment, marking the first time since independence that a person from Tripura has been given such a prestigious role. He highlighted Varma’s diverse contributions as a politician, poet, writer, and artist, noting his vision in fostering the Janajati community’s development.

Dr. Saha also acknowledged Varma’s past roles, including his tenure on the North Eastern Council’s Advisory Committee (1989-1993) and his leadership of the Tripura Chapter of the Indian National Council for Art and Culture. Varma’s multifaceted approach in various ministerial roles, particularly in finance, panchayat, rural development, and power, has greatly enriched the state’s administration. His contributions to the arts and sports were also acknowledged as inspirational and impactful.

In his brief remarks, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma expressed gratitude to President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Tripura government, and Chief Minister Dr. Saha, attributing his achievement to their support.

The event saw the attendance of key dignitaries including Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and several other ministers, MLAs, and MDCs.
