Urgent High Alert: BSF Bolsters Border Security Amid Turbulent Times Post Sheikh Hasina’s Resignation

The Border Security Force (BSF) has heightened its alert at the India-Bangladesh border following the resignation of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. According to a senior BSF officer, this measure is due to the potentially volatile law and order situation in Bangladesh.

In response to the developments, the Director General of BSF has arrived in Kolkata to assess the situation closely. Earlier today, Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma, leader of Tipra Motha, urged the Indian Central government to devise a contingency ‘Plan B’ amid rising protests in Bangladesh. He highlighted that the unrest could directly impact the neighboring Indian states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and West Bengal, which would be on the frontline of any fallout from the crisis.

The Indian government has also issued a travel advisory, cautioning citizens against traveling to Bangladesh until further notice. Pradyot Manikya emphasized the severity of the situation in Bangladesh, describing it as “quite grave” and warning of increasing anti-India sentiment similar to recent developments in the Maldives. Using the platform X, he stressed the necessity for India to prepare for any eventualities.

In summary, the BSF’s alert, combined with calls for precautionary measures and travel advisories, underscores India’s concern over possible spillover effects of the political turmoil in Bangladesh. The situation demands vigilance and preparedness from both security forces and policymakers to safeguard the bordering regions.
