Tragic Accident in Sikkim: Heartbreaking Plunge Leaves 2 Dead, 4 Injured in 500-Foot Gorge
Two individuals died, and four others were injured when their vehicle plunged into a 500-foot gorge in Gyalshing district on the evening of Sunday, February 2, according to police reports. The vehicle was en route from Bermiok to Geyzing when it apparently lost control, veered off the road, and fell into the gorge.
Officials confirmed that two passengers died instantly, while the other four were rescued and transported to Gyalshing district hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Gyalshing-Barnyak MLA Lok Nath Sharma visited the site to supervise rescue operations and support police and local efforts. The deceased were identified as Bishnu Kumar Sharma from Rungdu and Kumar Mukhia from 2nd Mile.
This tragic incident highlights the importance of road safety in treacherous terrain.
