Triumphant Harmony: Assam Governor Celebrates Inspiring Success in Peace, Development, and Environmental Conservation
During the Republic Day celebrations in Guwahati, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya highlighted the state’s achievements in fostering peace and promoting development across various sectors. Speaking after the national flag unfurling, Acharya praised the Assam government’s dedication to law and order, highlighting their decisive actions against crimes such as drug abuse, child marriage, and human trafficking.
Governor Acharya lauded the state’s progress, especially over the past year, noting significant advancements in peace, infrastructure development, and economic and social indices, alongside environmental conservation efforts. He emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining safety, with the recent surrender and peace accords signed by several militant groups underscoring these efforts.
The state has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards drug abuse, resulting in numerous arrests and significant seizures of contraband. Acharya noted a reduction in crimes against women and reaffirmed ongoing efforts to tackle child marriage and human trafficking.
The governor stressed the government’s focus on inclusive growth and empowerment, aiming to ensure development reaches marginalized communities and remote areas, with a particular emphasis on women’s empowerment. Various welfare initiatives are being implemented across sectors such as education, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, rural development, social security, and sports.
The governor also announced the forthcoming ‘Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit’ scheduled for February, aimed at boosting economic growth. Industry leaders from Bhutan and other South Asian countries will be invited, which is expected to further accelerate Assam’s economic development.
Overall, Acharya’s address highlighted a new era of development in Assam, marked by improved governance, socio-economic advancements, and strategic initiatives aimed at holistic, sustainable growth for the state and its citizens.
