Breaking: Shocking APP Arrest of UTA Recruiter Unveils Sinister Plot
Itanagar, 17 Jan: The Arunachal Pradesh Police have detained Tana Hasi for allegedly recruiting members for the armed group United Tani Army (UTA). Acting on intelligence reports, Itanagar police apprehended Hasi from his residence on Wednesday. Following thorough interrogation, he was formally arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Law & Order, Chukhu Apa, briefed the media on Friday, revealing that Hasi collaborated with Anthony Doke, the self-proclaimed chairman of the UTA, in recruiting youths through various platforms, including social media. The duo reportedly identified vulnerable youths on Facebook before Hasi recruited them to undergo training in Myanmar. Apa highlighted the police’s timely intervention, which prevented at least one youth from joining the UTA camp.
Hasi and Doke’s partnership dates back to their involvement with the National Liberation Council of Taniland (NLCT). They reconnected to bolster recruitment for the UTA. Apa appealed to the state’s youth associated with the UTA to return and integrate into society, assuring them of no legal repercussions and access to surrender policy benefits. He warned of strong action against those continuing antisocial activities.
The IGP urged parents to monitor their children’s activities to prevent recruitment by organizations like the UTA. He refuted Doke’s claims that police had wrongfully detained individuals, clarifying that Hasi’s arrest was evidence-based. Besides Hasi, two former NLCT members were interrogated but not detained.
On Thursday, Doke alleged the police unjustly targeted former NLCT operatives by linking them to the UTA and called for an end to their harassment. Despite these allegations, the police maintain the legitimacy of their actions, reinforcing their commitment to restoring peace and order in the state.
