Manipur News: Joint Operation Yields Recovery of Weapons in Nepali Basti
In a significant security operation, personnel from the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police successfully recovered an assortment of weapons and war-related materials from Nepali Basti, located at Zero Point-P1 Railway Site Road, approximately 6 km north of Kotlen Village. This early morning raid on Tuesday resulted in the confiscation of a 9 mm CMG alongside two magazines, two country-made single-barrel rifles, a hand grenade, and a Motorola (Baofeng) device. All items have been transferred to the police authorities for continued investigation.
This operation was part of a larger strategy targeting areas affected by ethnic unrest in Manipur. The security forces executed multiple joint operations from January 6 to January 9, during which they recovered a total of 19 weapons, several rounds of ammunition, and numerous other combat-related materials across various districts.
Authorities have been ramping up efforts to stabilize and secure regions impacted by recent conflicts, emphasizing the importance of removing illicit armaments from circulation. These coordinated operations are crucial in restoring peace and order, ensuring the safety of communities affected by ethnic tensions.
The ongoing investigations are expected to shed more light on the origin and intended use of these recovered items, highlighting the security forces’ commitment to maintaining law and order in the region. With tensions still high, the enhanced vigilance and proactive measures by security agencies are critical in preventing further escalation of violence.
