Triumph in Crisis: Society for Acute Care and Government Unite to Tackle Medical Emergencies at Maha Kumbh | Inspiring Lucknow News
The Society for Acute Care, Trauma, and Emergency Medicine (SACTEM) has joined forces with the Uttar Pradesh government to bolster emergency preparedness for the Maha Kumbh 2025. This initiative involves training medical officers, nurses, and paramedics in disaster management, trauma care, and triage protocols, in collaboration with AIIMS teams from Delhi and Rae Bareli.
Dr. Lokendra Gupta, founder and president of SACTEM, emphasized the need for specialized medical responses to potential emergencies like heart attacks, stampedes, respiratory crises, and trauma during the Mahakumbh. SACTEM is actively training healthcare professionals to effectively manage such situations. To reinforce on-ground emergency care, they have deployed a fully equipped Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ambulance.
In addition, a 100-bed central hospital has been set up by the Kumbh Mela authorities to further enhance emergency medical facilities. Training sessions, led by experts including Dr. Sharad Srivastava, Dr. Ajit Singh, and Umashankar, are designed to equip ambulance teams with essential skills in CPR and emergency response. Paramedics and drivers are also being trained to handle medical crises efficiently.
SACTEM Foundation’s mission focuses on improving emergency medical services through education, advocacy, and collaboration. Their training programs aim to prepare healthcare professionals for managing critical emergencies effectively, thereby ensuring a swift and specialized medical response during the Maha Kumbh 2025. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of preparedness and the proactive measures being taken to safeguard millions of attendees expected at the event.
The partnership between SACTEM and the Uttar Pradesh government highlights a dedicated approach to enhancing the safety and well-being of pilgrims during one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.
