Exciting Milestone: Union Railway Minister Unveils Three New Train Services in Guwahati on Jan 3
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to inaugurate a series of significant initiatives from Guwahati Railway Station on Friday, January 3, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and infrastructure. Central to these developments are the launch of three new train services: the Guwahati-New Lakhimpur Janshatabdi Express, the New Bongaigaon-Guwahati Passenger Train, and the Tinsukia-Naharlagun Express. These train services are expected to significantly bolster the Northeast’s rail network, providing improved transport accessibility to the region.
Further strengthening infrastructure, Vaishnaw will open the Tetelia Road Over Bridge (ROB) to the public. The ROB is anticipated to significantly reduce traffic congestion while improving road infrastructure within Guwahati.
In addition to these on-ground initiatives, the minister will virtually inaugurate a 10 KW FM transmitter for Akashvani Kokrajhar. This development promises to extend FM radio coverage across a 70-kilometer radius, directly benefiting over 3 million residents in Kokrajhar and neighboring districts such as Dhubri, Bongaigaon, and Chirang. This transmitter upgrade enhances reception quality and coverage beyond the capabilities of the existing 20-kilowatt Medium Wave system that has been in use since 1999.
Continuing to empower the region with educational resources, Vaishnaw will also virtually launch the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Deemed University from Guwahati Railway Station. This initiative is poised to expand educational and technological opportunities in Northeast India.
Concluding his visit, Vaishnaw will tour the Tata Semiconductor factory in Jagiroad and inspect ongoing projects under the Northeast Frontier Railway. These efforts collectively emphasize a strategic push to modernize infrastructure and create growth opportunities in the region.
