Unveiling Triumph: Security Forces Heroically Retrieve Advanced Weaponry from Namdapha National Park
MIAO, 28 Dec: In a significant joint operation, the Assam Rifles, the Army, and the Changlang district police successfully recovered a large cache of arms from the Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve in Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh. The recovery took place in the 27 Mile area along the Miao-Vijaynagar road.
The cache, reportedly one of the largest in recent times in southern Arunachal, consisted of 10 MQ 81 Chinese-origin assault rifles and Type 81 assault rifles. These weapons had been concealed in dense forest areas for several months. Major insurgent groups operating in the region had been searching for these arms for the last six months but were unable to locate them.
It is believed that the weapons were originally buried by ENNG militants before their surrender last year. The joint forces, leveraging their expertise and reliable intelligence, meticulously uncovered the arms, preventing them from falling into insurgent hands.
Prior to the operation, security forces ensured that tourists within Namdapha National Park were safely accommodated and could continue their birdwatching activities without disruption. The operation epitomized precision and professionalism, strategically avoiding any compromise to civilian safety or the environment.
There had been numerous reports about attempts by insurgent groups, specifically the NSCN (IM) and the NSCN (K-YA), in collaboration with merged ENNG cadres, to retrieve the hidden cache. However, the security forces, aided by sophisticated technology including high-tech drones, tracker dogs, and metal detectors, were able to locate and recover the weapons efficiently.
This successful mission underscores the persistent efforts and commitment of security agencies to maintaining peace and security in the region. The operation not only thwarted potential threats posed by insurgent groups but also contributed to enhancing the safety of both local residents and wildlife visiting the national park.
