Sikkim MP’s Inspiring Visit to Parliamentary Committee on Estimates: A Vital Step Forward!
On December 28, 2024, Indra Hang Subba, Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, participated in the initial day of a study visit by the Parliamentary Committee on Estimates in Mumbai. This visit was designed to facilitate in-depth discussions on vital governance and sectoral issues.
The first session focused on the petroleum and natural gas sector, involving representatives from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and senior officials from prominent public sector enterprises like ONGC, BPCL, and HPCL. Discussions revolved around addressing sector challenges and formulating future strategies, particularly in energy security, sustainability, and technological advancements. The session underscored the contributions of these organizations to national energy needs while maintaining environmental responsibility.
Following this, an interactive meeting took place with representatives from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited. This session explored urban infrastructure development in Mumbai, emphasizing transportation projects, especially metro rail initiatives. Discussions encompassed strategies to improve urban mobility, tackle infrastructure challenges, and ensure effective coordination among stakeholders.
The interactions during these sessions were both insightful and productive, focusing on enhancing governance and service delivery to the public. Indra Hang Subba highlighted the significance of collaboration between government bodies and public sector enterprises to achieve sustainable development, improved infrastructure, and elevated quality of life for citizens.
