Visionary Breakthrough: BTC Chief Pramod Boro Celebrates Transformative Vision Document for Regional Integrity and Advancement
Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief, Pramod Boro, unveiled a Vision Document focused on fostering peace and development in the Bodoland region. The document aims to promote comprehensive growth while safeguarding the language, culture, and identity of the 26 ethnic and tribal groups in the area. Boro stated the document is a collaborative effort, reflecting the concerns and aspirations collected from the communities through memorandums and interviews.
The Vision Document addresses critical issues such as language preservation, land rights, and educational and economic development. It also highlights the desire for peace and integrity, following past conflicts among communities. Boro emphasized the importance of infrastructure development, forest conservation, and biodiversity, outlined as short-term and long-term goals in the document.
Underlining the importance of sustainable development, BTC’s efforts have included establishing national parks, rehabilitating former militants, and digitizing land records. Boro acknowledged the role of national and state leadership in resolving past conflicts, crediting the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord for enhancing regional stability. The council has focused on addressing rural and ethnic community issues, enhancing agriculture productivity, and improving education and health services, with notable advances in technology adoption.
Boro remains optimistic about the region’s future, expressing hope that the Vision Document will serve as a roadmap for community-driven growth and continue the peace-building efforts initiated in recent years.
