Manipur Police’s Daring Seizure: 5.87 Kg of Brown Sugar Confiscated in Senapati, Four Arrested
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Manipur police seized 5.87 kg of brown sugar from a house in Chiphaodai village, Senapati district, on December 12. The prohibited substance was cleverly concealed in 150 soap cases. Following specific intelligence inputs, police conducted a raid that led to the arrest of four individuals connected to the drug haul. A case has been filed, with investigations ongoing to delve deeper into the illegal operation.
In a related development, Manipur police, in collaboration with other teams, demolished 50 acres of poppy cultivation in the Khamasom Hill Ranges on December 13. This operation is part of a larger initiative to curb drug production and trafficking in the region. With this latest effort, authorities have cleared a total of 160 acres of poppy fields in recent days, disrupting a significant portion of the narcotics supply chain.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took to his official X handle to highlight these achievements. He commended the coordinated efforts of the security forces and emphasized the importance of these actions in the state’s ongoing battle against drug-related issues. Alongside the destruction of poppy fields, security personnel also incinerated nine huts situated within the illicit cultivation sites, further underlining the firm stance against drug cultivation and trafficking in the region.
