Empowering Journey: Divyangjans Visit Raj Bhavan to Transform Employability Skills
In an inspiring move to bolster the employability of persons with intellectual disabilities, a group of trainees from the Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC) in Sikkim, visited Raj Bhavan as part of their comprehensive 70-hour employability training program. This initiative, overseen by the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is designed to equip differently-abled individuals with crucial skills for enhanced social inclusion and job readiness.
The visit, which took place on Friday, was a highlight for the trainees, providing them with rich exposure to one of Sikkim’s historical sites. Governor Om Prakash Mathur actively supported the initiative, emphasizing his commitment to empowering all segments of society. The experience was facilitated by Jigme Dorji Bhutia, Secretary to the Governor, alongside Raj Bhavan officials, ensuring a meaningful and engaging visit for all participants. The occasion was further enriched with a high tea hosted at the Raj Bhavan.
The CRC expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Mathur for allowing this unique opportunity and for his unwavering support of initiatives that promote the empowerment and upliftment of the differently-abled community. This exposure tour not only inspired the participants but also reinforced the critical importance of inclusive development in Sikkim.
The employability training program, which commenced on December 2 at a Special School in Syari, will conclude on December 16-17 at SICUN, Assam Lingzey. The visit to Raj Bhavan marked a significant milestone in the program, illustrating a successful collaboration towards creating a more inclusive and empowering environment for persons with disabilities. As the program unfolds, it continues to garner support from key figures and highlights the vital role of inclusive initiatives in societal development.
