Breaking: Security Forces Triumph with Captivating Arrest of Armed Men, Including Notorious KNF Cadre, in Manipur’s Churachandpur
Four individuals, including a member of the Kuki National Front (KNF), were apprehended by police and Assam Rifles on December 12 for terrorizing villagers in Laijang, situated in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. The accused, identified as Thangsiam Haokip (27), a KNF cadre, Kamlian (34), Malsom (20), and Jaipu Doujaithang (42), were reportedly intimidating local residents by wielding weapons. In their possession, authorities discovered an assortment of arms and ammunition, including a MA-1 Mk I (Myanmar) assault rifle and an air gun, alongside 40 live rounds, 22 spent cartridges, and an unregistered SUV.
This incident prompted legal action, with charges filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act at the Churachandpur police station. In a bid to enforce law and order, security forces conducted extensive search operations across vulnerable regions in the hill and valley districts. These operations led to the recovery of additional weapons and equipment, such as one MA4 Assault Rifle, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, a 9 mm Pistol, and a .32 Pistol. Enforcers also confiscated five hand grenades, five arming rings, two detonators, multiple rounds of various ammunition, and communication equipment, including an internet satellite antenna and router, from Keirao Khunou, Imphal East District.
These decisive actions underscore ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal activities and reinforce peace in the region. The operations exhibit a formidable collaboration between law enforcement agencies in mitigating threats posed by armed individuals. The arrest serves as a crucial reminder of the persistent challenges within the area and the dedicated efforts required to uphold safety and stability among the local communities.
