Meghalaya Joyfully Extends NEP 4th Anniversary Festivities to July 29, Respecting Sunday Serenity
The Meghalaya government has extended the Education Week celebrations to Monday, July 29, to accommodate the Christian community’s Sunday observances. Originally scheduled to end on Sunday, July 28, the week-long event now runs from July 22 to July 29. This extension was announced by Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma, who emphasized that the change ensures uninterrupted celebrations of the fourth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to a statement on the National People’s Party (NPP) social media page, the extension aims to honor teachers’ significant contributions to India’s educational landscape. “This initiative honors the invaluable contributions of teachers across India, recognizing their dedication to shaping the future of our nation,” the post stated.
The District School Education Government of Meghalaya has directed all school principals to engage in the Education Week, known locally as “Shiksha Saptah.” The extension allows schools to fully participate in commemorating the NEP 2020 milestone.
Minister Sangma highlighted that this scheduling adjustment permits comprehensive celebrations in educational institutions statewide. The government encourages all educational institutions and community members to participate, reflecting the event’s focus on the pivotal role of educators in national development.
The event aims to acknowledge teachers’ dedication and impact across India, fostering a sense of appreciation for their essential role in shaping the country’s future. The extension underlines the government’s commitment to ensuring that all celebrations proceed smoothly, without disrupting religious observances.
The Meghalaya government’s decision underscores the significant contributions of educators and reaffirms the importance of education in driving national progress, inviting widespread participation in this meaningful observance.
