Imphal: Tensions flared in Manipur’s capital, Imphal, on Thursday as students from the Kangleipak’s Federal Students’ Organisation (FESOK) clashed with police, escalating a protest that sought the appointment of a new Chairman for the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM). Initially peaceful, the demonstration turned aggressive around 1 PM when students stormed the BOSEM office, leading to a confrontation with law enforcement near the Chief Minister’s office.
The discord underscores student dissatisfaction with the government’s delay in appointing a leader they describe as competent and free from corruption. FESOK President, Kangujam Aramjit, voiced frustration over the government’s apparent inertia, highlighting the issue’s impact on the student community.
