Breaking: Major Drug Peddler Busted in Guwahati with Shocking 214g of Heroin | Urgent Guwahati News
In a significant operation led by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police, a notorious drug peddler, Sona Miya, was apprehended during a late-night raid in the Navagraha Hills area of Guwahati. Miya, 40, originally from Kokila village in Bongaigaon, had been living in a rented room on KK Road, secretly operating in the city over the past year. The raid, directed by STF Inspector Kapil Pathak, resulted in the seizure of 214.81 grams of suspected heroin, meticulously packed into 16 soapbox cases. Additionally, authorities recovered Rs 1,06,700 in cash and a mobile phone from Miya’s possession. A case has been filed at the Latasil police station under Sections 21(B) and 27(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.
This arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown by the STF, which has successfully conducted 150 operations since March of the previous year aimed at controlling the drug menace in the region. In a related effort, Coimbatore police arrested four habitual offenders in the Saramedu area, seizing 150 pills and syringes. Following these arrests, the operation in Coimbatore intensified, leading to dismantling a seven-member gang involved in drug peddling, with police seizing 8kg of ganja. The gang, led by an individual named Vinoth, was allegedly smuggling the contraband from Odisha to sell at inflated prices in the city. The enforcement agencies’ consistent efforts highlight their commitment to curbing illegal drug activities and ensuring community safety by bringing offenders to justice.
