Urgent: Curfew Enforced in Imphal Amidst Escalating Unrest – Security Intensified Across the City

In response to rising tensions in Manipur, a curfew has been imposed in Imphal West and Imphal East to uphold law and order. The streets of Imphal witnessed limited vehicle movement as security forces were strategically deployed. Special attention has been given to areas around the Chief Minister’s residence and the Raj Bhavan, where security measures have been intensified.

This development comes after an incident on November 17, when a large mob attempted to storm the ancestral home of MLA Kongkham Robindro in Mayang, Imphal. The intervention of security forces was crucial in preventing the crowd from advancing further.

At present, the situation in Imphal and surrounding valley areas has stabilized. A visibly strong security presence, including army and CRPF personnel, is conducting flag marches throughout Imphal city to ensure the maintenance of order.

In a related issue, the central government has been urged to take necessary measures for the safety of Mizo students residing in Manipur.
