This cultural festival, which highlights Assam’s rich linguistic diversity, was inaugurated with a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging Assamese people outside the state to engage in the festivities. In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi commended the initiative, expressing hope that it would enhance the connection between individuals and Assamese culture. The festival, which runs until November 9, has been organized under the guidance of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who emphasized the importance of celebrating and preserving the unique linguistic heritage of Assam. The decision to hold Bhasha Gaurav Saptah was made by the Assam Cabinet following the Union Cabinet’s approval of Assamese as a classical language. The event encourages participation from various linguistic communities, aiming to foster a deeper appreciation for regional languages.
