Shocking Arrest: Bar Employee Accused in Tragic Murder of Migrant Worker Near Coimbatore
In a tragic incident near Coimbatore, a bar employee was arrested on Sunday following the alleged murder of a migrant worker. The victim, Pobitra Rai, 44, originally from Tushkhali village in West Bengal, had visited a bar in Neelambur on October 31 with friends to celebrate Deepavali. During the evening, under the influence of alcohol, Rai reportedly directed verbal abuse at S. Aravind, 24, an employee at the bar hailing from Palayankottai in Ramanathapuram district. Provoked, Aravind retaliated by breaking a beer bottle and stabbing Rai in the abdomen.
Despite the quick intervention of bar staff and patrons who rushed Rai to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, Rai succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Sunday. Aravind was detained by Sulur police on Saturday and subsequently arrested following Rai’s death. He has been presented before a magistrate and placed in judicial custody. The incident has cast a shadow over the festive celebrations, highlighting the dangers of alcohol-fueled altercations.
