Assam: Wanted Cattle Smuggler Injured in Police Fire at Golakganj

Dhubri, Assam – In a significant development, a notorious cattle smuggler, Sirajul Haque, was injured during police action at Golakganj along the Indo-Bangladesh border late Wednesday night. Haque, a most-wanted figure in the region’s cattle smuggling operations, was apprehended in a swift operation by law enforcement.
According to sources, the incident escalated when Haque physically assaulted a police officer and attempted to escape custody while being transported to Gaikhowa. The situation forced the officers to open fire, resulting in Haque suffering serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to Dhubri Medical College Hospital for urgent medical care.
This incident highlights ongoing efforts by Assam’s law enforcement agencies to curb illegal cattle smuggling activities along the border. In related operations, authorities have also rescued 36 cattle heads and detained several smugglers, further tightening the noose on the illicit trade.
