Mumbai, Oct 25: In a captivating development for cinema enthusiasts, acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to portray the antagonist in the forthcoming vampire comedy, ‘Thamba’. Helmed by director Aditya Sarpotdar, the film also features prominent actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in leading roles. Reports reveal Siddiqui’s character as an “eccentric yet violent” figure, hailing from the ancient Vijayanagara Empire and traveling to the present to seek revenge and influence the fates of the protagonists.
Production for this highly-anticipated horror-comedy is slated to kick off in late November or early December. Siddiqui, known for his gripping villain portrayals in films such as ‘Badlapur’, ‘Munna Michael’, ‘Kick’, and ‘Petta’, is expected to deliver another memorable performance in ‘Thamba’.
Apart from his cinematic endeavors, Siddiqui recently found himself embroiled in controversy due to a new ad campaign. The advertisement, where Siddiqui appeared dressed as a Maharashtra police officer promoting a poker app, sparked backlash. The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti has called for stringent action against Siddiqui and Ankur Singh, the owner of Big Cash Poker, arguing that the ad tarnishes the image of the Maharashtra Police and might encourage illegal activities. The organization urged authorities to act under relevant Maharashtra laws.
With ‘Thamba’ marking Ayushmann Khurrana’s first collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna, the project promises to be a thrilling watch. Producer Amar Kaushik of ‘Stree 2’ fame confirmed the film’s title and shooting schedule, asserting the film will commence rolling cameras shortly.
