Exciting Kickoff: Nagaland Super League’s Thrilling Inaugural Season Set for 2024!
Nagaland is poised to revolutionize its football landscape with the introduction of the Nagaland Super League (NSL), slated for a 2024 debut. This development was unveiled in a meeting led by Neibu Sekhose, the president of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and an executive member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The inaugural season will see eight franchise teams competing, signifying a major advancement in local football. The NSL’s media team has plans to issue Letters of Interest and publicize advertisements to woo potential franchise owners. Transparent selection criteria for franchise ownership will be made accessible to ensure fairness in the process.
To ensure the league runs without a hitch, the governing body has set up several committees focused on logistics, technicalities, and promotion. A nine-member governing body has reiterated its dedication to nurturing football excellence in Nagaland.
The NSL aims to offer a high-stakes platform for local footballers, fostering the sport while honoring Nagaland’s vibrant football heritage. The NFA is keen on involving sports fans and prospective investors in the new league through franchise ownership.
This initiative is bolstered by the state’s chief minister, who extended support during the inauguration of the 23rd Dr. T. Ao Inter-District Championships Trophy in Tuensang. Sekhose expressed his appreciation to the chief minister and the state government for their steadfast support in bringing this vision of a professional football league to fruition in Nagaland.
