Two individuals were arrested on Thursday for attacking law enforcement with pepper powder in an escape attempt. S. Gokul, 27, from Pudupattinam, Thanjavur, and J. Gokulnath from Thottiam, Tiruchi, allegedly targeted Saravanan, a head constable at the Aravakurichi police station, and Prabu, a Home Guard, during a routine vehicle inspection near the electricity office in Aravakurichi in the early morning hours. The suspects were apprehended soon after. An investigation revealed that both men were known thieves planning to loot valuables from locked homes in the Aravakurichi and Vellianai regions. Gokul had 24 pending cases across various districts, including Tiruchi, Ariyalur, Pudukottai, and Thanjavur, while Gokulnath faced four charges in Tiruchi. Both have been remanded in judicial custody.
