A 42-year-old assistant from the BMTC’s recruitment section, Mahesh Ukkali, was discovered dead in a suspected suicide inside a storeroom at the BMTC building in Shanthinagar on Monday. Ukkali, a Kengeri resident, was found when his family came searching for him at his office on Tuesday afternoon. According to a security officer, Ukkali had signed out the storeroom key around 11 a.m. on Monday and had not returned it. When BMTC officials checked the storeroom, they found the light on but the door locked from the inside. Upon breaking the lock, they discovered Ukkali’s body. The police have since sent the body for postmortem and have filed an unnatural death report (UDR) following a complaint from Ukkali’s wife. Those experiencing suicidal thoughts are urged to seek help by calling Arogya Sahayavani at 104.
