Mon District Hospital Commemorates Six Years of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY
Mon, September 30 (MExN): The six-year anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) was celebrated at the Mon District Hospital conference hall on September 30. The event highlighted the scheme’s journey and the significant impact on healthcare in the district.
Dr. S Ngampa Sangme, Nodal Officer for PM-JAY CMHIS at Mon District Hospital, recounted the hospital’s initial struggles in 2018 due to financial constraints. To kickstart the scheme, the hospital’s doctors and staff pooled their own resources to purchase essential medicines, IT equipment, power backup systems, and consumables, as well as hire additional staff. Their dedication saw the successful implementation of the Beneficiary Identification System (BIS) drives, ensuring widespread distribution of PM-JAY cards.
These relentless efforts bore fruit in 2021 when Mon District Hospital was recognized as the “best-performing empanelled hospital” in its category under PM-JAY. The increased revenue was reinvested into improving hospital services, including hiring more staff and maintaining infrastructure and equipment. Dr. Sangme emphasized the collective commitment and teamwork that led to 80-90% of patients now using PM-JAY/CMHIS cards for treatment.
Special invitee Tshelhiu EAC expressed heartfelt gratitude and congratulated the hospital for its achievement. She urged the attendees to disseminate information about the PM-JAY scheme to their communities and emphasized the collective responsibility of stakeholders to support and benefit from the scheme. She assured the district administration’s readiness to assist whenever necessary.
The event also featured an award ceremony where Mon District Hospital was honored for its excellence. An accompanying essay competition saw M Hongnaw Edith Douglas School securing first place, followed by Yeangkap Edith Douglas School and Lemya, Govt Higher Secondary School in second and third places, respectively.
