Chief Minister Addresses Land Acquisition and Road Development Issues with Central Agencies
GANGTOK, SEP 28, 2024 [IST]: In a crucial effort to address land acquisition and road development challenges, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang chaired a high-stakes meeting at Samman Bhawan today. Senior officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) participated in the session, focusing on resolving the state’s pressing land issues.
The meeting provided the Chief Minister with detailed briefings on several pertinent concerns, including land acquisition, compensation disputes, and road development delays. Highlighting the need for a collaborative approach, Tamang stressed the importance of synergy between Central agencies and State departments.
Discussions delved into identifying and implementing potential solutions to streamline the land acquisition process and accelerate project timelines. Specific cases that had hindered progress were scrutinized, aiming to develop effective mediation strategies for ongoing disputes. The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of respecting landowners’ concerns while pushing forward with infrastructure development, suggesting a unified framework to address grievances more efficiently.
The meeting saw active participation from the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DGP), various departmental secretaries, District Collectors, Sub-divisional Magistrates, and other state officials.
