Meghalaya Police Apprehend 10 Bangladeshi Nationals in South West Garo Hills
In a concerted effort, the Meghalaya police, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), successfully apprehended 10 Bangladeshi nationals in the South West Garo Hills district. The apprehension took place after the individuals were found traveling from Purakhasia in an autorickshaw.
Acting on specific intelligence provided by the 50 Battalion BSF, local police quickly mobilized to intercept the infiltrators. Combined forces from the 100 Battalion BSF and the Police Outpost at Purakhasia established a mobile check post on State Highway 12 between Dalu and Ampati to capture the suspects.
Despite the carefully laid plans, initially, the suspects managed to slip through the established checkpoints. Subsequent information received by the enforcement team indicated that the Bangladeshi nationals had already bypassed the mobile check post. This critical intelligence was then relayed to ZigZag Police Station.
Thanks to the swift communication and coordinated efforts, personnel at the ZigZag Police Station were able to locate and apprehend the individuals. All ten suspects were promptly taken into custody.
Following their apprehension, the foreign nationals were presented in court. Authorities have indicated that an investigation is ongoing to ascertain further details about the incident and the individuals’ reasons for crossing the border.
This operation underscores the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts between local police forces and the BSF in safeguarding the nation’s borders and ensuring the prompt capture of infiltrators.
