International Education Made Easy: How SIO Brings Study Dreams to Life
Studies In Overseas (SIO) says it is offering a ₹25,000 scholarship to students applying to study in Italy, subject to the programme’s terms and eligibility criteria. The consultancy announced the SIO Nikhil-Dipti Scholarship to mark its seventh anniversary, as part of efforts to make international education more accessible to Indian students.
SIO advises students on overseas study options, scholarships and education financing. The organisation says it supports applications to countries including Italy, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
In an account shared by SIO, a student named Rahul learned about the options during a chance meeting with the consultancy’s director, Mr Richard. Rahul, from a modest-income household, was interested in studying abroad but worried about the cost.
Richard told him that eligible students in Italy and Germany may qualify for substantial tuition waivers, including awards that cover full tuition. He also described Italian regional and need-based scholarships that may provide around ₹7 lakh a year towards expenses such as accommodation, meals and living costs. The amount and support available depend on the scholarship and the applicant’s eligibility.
The account also says graduates in Italy may be eligible for a one-year post-study work permit, subject to immigration rules. Such permits and scholarship awards are not guaranteed.
SIO’s stated consultancy fee is ₹2 lakh, payable in two instalments: ₹50,000 at the application stage and ₹1.5 lakh after an offer letter, according to the process described by the organisation. Richard told Rahul that he might need to show about ₹23 lakh for two years of living expenses for a visa application. This was presented as an illustrative figure; actual financial requirements depend on the applicable visa rules and individual circumstances.
To help address the funding gap, Richard said SIO has an arrangement with Credila, a non-banking financial company, through which eligible students can explore education loans of up to ₹25 lakh. He said that, under the arrangement, as much as 10% of an approved loan could be disbursed before visa processing is complete, subject to the lender’s approval and terms.
According to SIO’s account, Rahul went on to complete his education in Italy and earn a salary in euros. The consultancy presents his experience as an example of how scholarship information and financing options may help students consider overseas education, while urging applicants to check eligibility, costs and lender conditions before making commitments.
