The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau has launched an investigation into allegations that an IAS-IPS couple and their family members purchased 36 villas in two resorts in Udaipur and Alwar at prices far below market rates. The declared purchase value of the properties is about ₹5.52 crore. The agency is also investigating allegations that the IAS officer used his official position to grant special benefits to a private company.
The accused IAS officer is Shikhar Agarwal, whose wife, Prashakha Mathur, is an IPS officer. According to the allegations, 20 villas were purchased in March 2026 at Ananta Resort in Bujara, Udaipur. Of these, 10 were registered in Agarwal’s name and 10 in his wife’s name. Each villa was priced at about ₹15 lakh, putting the total purchase value of these 20 properties at around ₹3 crore.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has also obtained information about the purchase of 16 more villas at Ananta Resort in Ajabgarh, Alwar. Eight of these are allegedly in the names of Agarwal and his wife, four in the names of their two sons, and the remaining four in the names of Agarwal’s parents-in-law. Each of these villas was priced at about ₹15 lakh to ₹16.5 lakh.
Agarwal is also accused of granting special benefits to Goyal Fashions Private Limited, the company that operates the Ananta brand of resorts. The investigation is examining alleged relaxations in resort construction rules, approvals granted without checking required documents, and the granting of a special financial package. The agency is continuing to investigate decisions Agarwal took while holding various government posts.
According to the source material, the 20 villas in Udaipur were registered on March 27, 2026, the same day the company was given the special financial package. The investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
