25 Alleged Infiltrators Caught in Night Op on Indo-Bangladesh Border
Assam Police, in a coordinated operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), apprehended 25 people allegedly attempting to enter India illegally along the international border, according to a statement shared by Assam Police. All 25 individuals were subsequently sent back to their place of origin.
The operation was carried out on the night of October 24, with police describing the action as part of ongoing efforts to prevent unauthorised crossings along the border. The state’s top police office shared details of the operation publicly, underscoring the administration’s continued focus on border security.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also confirmed the development in a post on X, stating that the 25 people were apprehended while allegedly attempting to cross into India. The chief minister’s announcement highlights the state government’s emphasis on curbing illegal immigration, a long-standing concern in Assam, which shares a sensitive international frontier.
The operation reflects the broader security framework in place along India’s international boundaries, in which the BSF is primarily responsible for guarding the border, while state police forces assist in maintaining security within their jurisdiction. This coordination between central and state agencies is central to detecting and intercepting attempts at illegal entry.
Security agencies continue to maintain heightened surveillance along the border, and officials indicated that such operations remain part of sustained efforts to prevent unauthorised crossings and ensure the integrity of the frontier.
