Kailashahr Gears Up for Its First-Ever Durga Puja Carnival
Agartala, October 3, 2026: Kailashahar is preparing to host its first-ever Durga Puja Carnival in 2026, with the Unakoti district administration seeking to make the celebrations more inclusive and expansive. The initiative will bring local Puja committees and community organisations together to showcase Durga Puja’s cultural traditions and promote communal harmony.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy reviewed the preparations at a meeting on Saturday at the Unakoti District Magistrate’s office. District officials, representatives of local clubs and members of Puja committees attended the meeting to discuss arrangements for the proposed carnival.
The carnival is intended to be more than an entertainment event. Roy said it should provide a platform to strengthen social connections and present Durga Puja as a shared cultural celebration. He called for close coordination among government departments to ensure that the event is conducted safely and in an orderly manner.
Officials reviewed measures concerning crowd management, security, logistics and interdepartmental coordination. They also discussed the role of local clubs and Puja committees in encouraging broad public participation.
Unakoti District Magistrate Megha Jain and senior officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
