Reform Utsav Launched at Middle Khomi: A Vibrant Cultural Moment
Kohima, October 2: Middle Khomi in Phek district launched the Reform Utsav on Friday as part of the People’s Plan Campaign, “Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas,” aimed at bringing government departments and the local community together to strengthen participatory planning and grassroots development.
The programme, held at the Village Council Hall in Middle Khomi, was attended by Rhosietho Ngouri, Deputy Commissioner of Phek, as the special guest, and Zhoi Lohe, Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Phek. Er. Mechietsho Koza, EAC, Phek headquarters, chaired the event.
Reform Utsav sought to make development planning more responsive to local needs by creating a direct platform for interaction between residents and government departments. The initiative focused on identifying community priorities, increasing awareness of government schemes and services, and promoting coordination among departments for inclusive and effective development.
Representatives from the District Agriculture Office, District Horticulture Office, DRDA, Chief Medical Office, Public Health and Engineering Department, Power Department, District Welfare Office, District Programme Office under ICDS, District Land Records and Survey Office, and ITI Phek presented details of relevant programmes.
The presentations covered government schemes, welfare measures, livelihood opportunities, essential services, skill-development initiatives, infrastructure projects and other development interventions. Community members also received information on the eligibility criteria and procedures for accessing these programmes.
An interactive session involving Village Council members, community representatives and the public focused on local development priorities and ways in which departments could coordinate their schemes to address the village’s needs. The event concluded with a tree-plantation drive involving the special guest, programme chairperson, departmental officials, Village Council members and residents.
The Middle Khomi initiative represents an effort to strengthen public participation, interdepartmental coordination and planning at the grassroots level, with the broader aim of ensuring that development initiatives reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
