Dry Fish, Not Biryani: Rakibul Hussain’s Surprising Story
Badruddin Ajmal, chief of the AIUDF, launched a fresh attack on Congress MP Rakibul Hussain during the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll campaign, responding to Hussain’s earlier remarks about biryani. In a statement circulated on social media, Ajmal said, “Rakibul Hussain was born eating dry fish, not biryani.” He also claimed that Hussain came from a poor background and questioned how he could afford biryani. “He was a poor man. Where would he get biryani from?” Ajmal said, while referring to the Congress leader as “mad.”
The remarks are part of an escalating political exchange involving Hussain and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma had earlier mocked Hussain as “Bakasura” and said that those born to eat biryani were “animals.” Hussain responded with his own remark that he had been sent into the world to eat biryani, turning the dish into a repeated point of contention during the campaign.
Polling for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll is scheduled for October 6, while the counting of votes is set for October 9.
