Kaliabor College Fair: Student-Made Entrepreneurship Showcase, Assam
Kaliabor College (Autonomous) in Assam hosted a special entrepreneurship fair on its campus, giving students and pupils from local schools a platform to display and sell products they had made themselves. The event, organised by the college’s Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), aimed to blend classroom learning with practical, hands-on business experience.
Unlike typical school fairs, participants handled the full cycle of presenting and selling their goods. Stalls featured a range of handmade and homemade items crafted by students, who managed display, pricing and direct customer interaction. Teachers, fellow students and visitors bought items from the stalls, providing revenue and immediate feedback to the young entrepreneurs.
Organisers said the fair was designed to promote entrepreneurial skills alongside academic study and to encourage students to consider self-employment or small business opportunities. By taking part in real transactions, students gained exposure to marketing, sales and customer service-skills that organisers described as essential for turning ideas into viable ventures.
The college noted that such initiatives build practical experience and confidence, helping students translate creativity and technical skills into marketable products. The student-run stalls drew a positive response from attendees, with strong interest reported in several exhibits.
