Shock at Delhi Airport: Monkey Skull Found in Passenger Luggage
Doomdooma: Alert Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Wednesday detected a suspected monkey skull concealed inside a passenger’s hand baggage during pre-embarkation security screening. The passenger was due to fly from Delhi to Hyderabad when the item was noticed during routine checks and the individual was intercepted for questioning.
According to a CISF statement, “Alert CISF personnel deployed at IGI Airport, New Delhi, detected a skull concealed inside the hand baggage of a passenger during the pre-embarkation security check.” During questioning the passenger reportedly claimed the recovered skull belonged to a monkey.
Given the nature of the item and its possible connection to wildlife offences, the CISF handed the passenger over to local police for further legal action. “Considering the nature of the item and its suspected connection with wildlife, the passenger was handed over to the local police for further legal action under the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972,” the statement said.
The CISF said the incident highlights the force’s vigilance in maintaining aviation security and supporting enforcement agencies in detecting and preventing the illegal movement of wildlife and wildlife derivatives through airports. Further legal proceedings are being carried out by the local police under applicable laws.
