Breaking: Assam Arrests Two for Allegedly Aiding ULFA(I) in Tinsukia
Doomdooma: Police have arrested two more people suspected of providing logistical support to the United Liberation Front of Asom–Independent (ULFA‑I), expanding an investigation into a militant plot that was recently foiled in Tinsukia district. The arrests follow the detention, days earlier, of two suspected ULFA‑I cadres who are accused of planning indiscriminate firing and grenade attacks targeting civilians in Tinsukia town.
Acting on leads obtained during interrogation of the first two suspects, investigators took into custody Bitu Bora and Kalpa Bora, both residents of Panitola, for their alleged involvement in facilitating the planned operation. Police say Bitu Bora owned the Swift car reportedly used to transport the two suspected operatives, while Kalpa Bora is accused of supplying other logistical assistance.
Police further told reporters that, during questioning, the arrested suspects allegedly said the vehicle had been arranged on instructions from senior ULFA‑I leader Aiseng Asom. Authorities say this disclosure has given investigators fresh leads into the outfit’s operational network and is shaping the next phase of the probe.
Investigators are examining whether additional individuals helped facilitate the alleged conspiracy and are following up on leads from multiple directions. Police sources said further operations are underway to identify and apprehend others suspected of links to the case, and that the investigation remains active.
Security has been tightened across Tinsukia district in response to the arrests and the alleged plot. Officials said checks have been intensified at strategic locations and surveillance enhanced in areas considered vulnerable, as authorities work to prevent any further threats to public safety.
Police emphasised that the allegations are subject to legal process and that those found connected to the conspiracy will face action under the law. The investigation is continuing as officers seek to piece together the full extent of the network and its plans.
