Shocking Robbery in Assam’s Jogighopa: Two Camera Operators Injured
Two entrepreneurs from Dhubri district were allegedly robbed and severely injured by a group of assailants in Jogighopa, Bongaigaon district, police said. The victims have been identified as Akidul Momin and Munna Khan of Bilasipara, who run a business renting DSLR and drone cameras.
According to preliminary information, the pair travelled to Jogighopa after being contacted for a camera rental assignment. The alleged clients reportedly paid an advance of Rs 4,500 and asked them to bring their equipment to a spot near Tamranga-Konara Beel.
On reaching the location, the two men were allegedly set upon by four unidentified attackers who arrived in two vehicles. The assailants are said to have snatched the victims’ mobile phones and camera gear before assaulting them with sharp weapons. Both Momin and Khan sustained serious injuries in the incident.
The injured men told police that, fearing for their lives, they hid in the waters of Tamranga-Konara Beel and spent the night there before they were able to seek help. A formal complaint has been registered at the Uttar Salmara Police Outpost.
Police have launched an investigation and officials visited the scene to gather evidence. Authorities said they are working to identify and trace the suspects involved in the robbery.
The case has raised concerns about the safety of freelancers and small entrepreneurs who travel with high-value equipment for assignments. Local police urged anyone with information about the attackers or the vehicles involved to come forward to assist the investigation.
