মাজ নিশা ছুৰিকাঘাত: লণ্ডনত ভাৰতীয় যুৱকৰ চাঞ্চল্যকৰ হত্যাৰ অভিযোগ
An Indian-origin man, 26-year-old Gurvaje Singh, was fatally stabbed in Southall, West London, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 10, police say; the Metropolitan Police have opened a murder investigation. Officers and paramedics found Singh and another man with serious injuries outside a shop near the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane at about 12:41 a.m.; Singh died at the scene before he could be taken to hospital, while the other injured man later received treatment and was discharged.
Seven people were initially arrested on suspicion of involvement in the attack; six have since been released and one person was released on conditional bail while inquiries continue. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation. Detectives said they are working to establish the motive for the attack and the role of the suspects.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell urged anyone with information to come forward, particularly people who were in the area or who may hold CCTV or mobile-phone footage. “If you have CCTV of the area — or if you were present at the scene and have not yet spoken to police — we urge you to come forward and contact us,” she said.
The stabbing occurred amid heightened public debate and protests around immigration and public safety in parts of England. Earlier in the week, hundreds of anti-immigration protesters held a demonstration in Belfast, Northern Ireland; police said the Southall killing is being investigated on its own facts and that they are not yet able to confirm any link to those demonstrations.
Police asked anyone with information, dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage to contact the Metropolitan Police or call the incident room handling the inquiry.
