A 15-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his mother and her partner in Adoni, in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, police sources say. Investigators allege the killing followed months of tension after the teenager, identified as Birendra, repeatedly objected to his mother Gangamma’s extramarital relationship with a man named Dargappa. The accused reportedly tried to conceal the crime by staging Birendra as a missing person before a special police team uncovered the truth and recovered the body on June 1.
According to the police account, Birendra lived in G. Hosalli village in the Adoni mandal. Neighbours and family members had reportedly heard him openly complain about his mother’s relationship, and frequent domestic disputes followed. Investigators say the couple decided to eliminate Birendra because of the embarrassment and persistent protests he caused in the village.
After the killing, the two accused are alleged to have secretly buried Birendra in a graveyard outside the village. To deflect suspicion, Gangamma herself filed a missing-person report at the local police station and appeared to conduct staged searches. She also reportedly approached higher courts seeking directions to locate her son, actions that investigators view as attempts to delay or mislead the inquiry.
A special investigation team formed following court directions examined phone records and local witness statements and found inconsistencies in Gangamma’s and Dargappa’s accounts. Forensic evidence and witness testimony strengthened the suspicions. Police located a specific plot in the graveyard and, with revenue officials, medical personnel and heavy security, exhumed and recovered the body on June 1. The remains have been sent for post-mortem examination. Dargappa is currently in police custody.
Police say the probe is ongoing to determine whether others were involved and to establish how the murder was planned and executed. No charges have yet been proven in court; authorities continue to collect evidence as legal proceedings move forward.
