PM Modi’s Urgent Sikkim Visit on April 27-28: Key Details
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim on April 27 and 28, 2026, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay announced at the Sikkim Express 50th anniversary event in Gangtok. According to Golay, the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Libing Army Helipad at around 3:00 PM on April 27 and will stay at Lok Bhawan that evening. He is scheduled to address the public at Paljor Stadium on April 28.
Golay said a roadshow is planned on April 27, running from Libing Helipad through Deorali to Lok Bhawan, and appealed to residents across Sikkim to turn out in large numbers. “The much anticipated visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of 50 years of Sikkim is scheduled for April 27 and April 28,” the Chief Minister told the gathering.
The announcement comes after an earlier plan for a visit in May 2025-timed for Sikkim’s Statehood Golden Jubilee-was disrupted by bad weather. At that time, the Prime Minister addressed the Paljor Stadium audience virtually from Siliguri in West Bengal. Golay expressed hope that weather conditions this year will allow the visit to proceed in person as planned.
The visit is likely to draw significant public attention in Gangtok and elsewhere in the state, with officials and security arrangements expected to follow standard protocols for a high-profile national visit.
