Vijayawada’s Wake-Up Call: Three Young Lives Radically Transformed by ISIS and AQIS Terrorism Arrested!

In a significant crackdown on extremist activities, authorities in Vijayawada have arrested three individuals linked to banned terrorist organizations. The suspects, identified as Mohammad Rehmatulla Sharif, Md. Danish, and Mirza Sohail Baig, are all residents of Vijayawada and reportedly received training in terrorist operations.

The arrests followed detailed intelligence operations conducted by the NTR Commissionerate police on March 23, 2026, in response to emerging threats from groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). Investigators revealed that the accused had established connections with ISIS affiliates across multiple states, including Hyderabad, Bihar, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Delhi, suggesting a coordinated effort to enact terror activities nationwide.

The suspects, who worked as app-based drivers and held jobs in local hotels, conducted their operations under the radar. It was uncovered that they had been lured by the ideologies of ISIS and AQIS, sharing content from extremist social media groups and maintaining contact with handlers in various regions, including international networks. A police officer highlighted the active engagement of the individuals in online platforms that propagate radical narratives. “The terrorist sympathisers were following social media groups related to ISIS and AQIS and the terror preachers, and posted the related contents,” the officer stated.

As law enforcement continues to investigate, the Two Town police have registered cases against the trio under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA), among other charges. West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police N.S.V.K. Durga Rao is leading the inquiry to uncover further details about their activities and potential networks.

The increasing incidence of radicalization among youth in urban areas has raised alarms among security agencies. The arrests in Vijayawada exemplify a broader trend of local individuals being drawn into the folds of international terrorist organizations through online platforms. Authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to monitor and disrupt these networks before they can execute any planned attacks.

These developments come against the backdrop of heightened security measures across India, as officials work tirelessly to prevent the spread of extremist ideologies. The swift actions taken by the police serve as a reminder of the ongoing battle against terrorism and the crucial role of intelligence in safeguarding public safety.

As investigations unfold, the community remains alert and engaged, reflecting the complexities of countering radicalization in the digital age. The involvement of young individuals in these activities underscores the necessity for ongoing dialogue and preventive measures to address the allure of extremist narratives in society.

In a challenging landscape for law enforcement, these arrests represent both a crucial victory and a sobering reminder of the persistent threats posed by extremist groups. The commitment to protecting society from such dangers remains steadfast as agencies work to dismantle these alarming networks.

Andhra Pradesh remains vigilant in its ongoing efforts to combat terror-related activities, with the police dedicated to upholding safety and security in the region.
