Activist Demands Urgent DSC Recruitment Reforms at EJH
KHLIEHRIAT, March 19 — RTI activist Reachingson Siangshai met with the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills on Wednesday to press for immediate implementation of resolutions passed at a high‑level meeting on November 27, 2025, concerning the District Selection Committee (DSC) and delayed recruitments. Siangshai said the DSC had advertised Grade 3 and Grade 4 posts in October 2025 but the hiring process has stalled and none of the 17 points agreed at the November meeting-including commitments made in the presence of the local MLA and other stakeholders-have been acted upon.
After submitting a memorandum to the district administration, Siangshai highlighted public frustration over the slow pace of recruitment and the need for transparent, timely DSC procedures. A chief concern raised was preventing malpractice during examinations; the administration had earlier ruled out a total internet ban because of its impact on essential services.
To safeguard the exam process, Siangshai proposed deploying signal jammers at exam centres. The Deputy Commissioner said the administration would examine the proposal’s feasibility, including availability, cost and how many institutions would require jammers, and would consider whether short‑term reforms could be introduced to expedite hiring.
Siangshai warned that if the district fails to implement the November resolutions “in letter and spirit” he will escalate the matter to the state government. The meeting underscored mounting public impatience with recruitment delays in East Jaintia Hills and the demand for concrete, fast‑track measures from the DSC and district authorities.
