Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay attended the 12th edition of Sherpa Gyalpo Losar cum Eco-Village Tourism 2026 at Rukumtar in the Temi-Namphing constituency on Sunday, February 15, 2026, urging collective action to develop the area as a sustainable tourism destination while protecting local livelihoods and culture.

On his social media page he said, “In my speech, I emphasized that we must work collectively towards developing this area as a strong tourism destination, while ensuring that growth remains sustainable and inclusive. I stated that we have consistently supported the constituency through various developmental schemes and initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and infrastructure.”
He added that ongoing efforts have produced steady progress and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expand tourism, empower local communities, and pursue holistic development. “As a result of these continued efforts, the area has witnessed steady progress, and I reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthening tourism, empowering local communities, and ensuring holistic development for the people,” he wrote.
Local leaders and residents said the combined emphasis on culture and sustainability could improve incomes and infrastructure if supported by targeted policies and community engagement, making eco-village tourism a strategic priority for the constituency.
