Assam CM Inspects Major Guwahati Cycle Factory & Bharalumukh Flyovers
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on the night of February 14, inspected the ongoing construction of the Cycle Factory and Bharalumukh flyovers in Guwahati and reviewed the pace of work, announcing timelines for their opening to the public.
Sarma said the Cycle Factory flyover will be opened to commuters before Bohag Bihu, but added that there will be no formal inauguration because the election Model Code of Conduct is in force.
He also stated that the Bharalumukh flyover is scheduled to be opened by March 10, adding that the new structure is expected to be operational soon thereafter.
Officials say the Bharalumukh flyover will ease traffic for commuters travelling from Santipur to Jalukbari and from Sukleshwar to Santipur, improving movement along these key city routes.
Both flyovers are being built with the stated aim of reducing congestion and shortening travel times across Guwahati’s road network, measures the government describes as vital to easing daily commutes and improving urban mobility.
The completion of the Cycle Factory and Bharalumukh flyovers is presented by authorities as a step toward strengthening Guwahati’s traffic infrastructure and addressing long-standing congestion issues in the city.
